beliefs How Can God Be Glorified Through Me Today?

I recently read a testimony online of a prison inmate who surrendered his life to
God through a jailhouse Bible study program. Prior to his salvation, he was known as
one of the toughest, meanest inmates in the cell block. The one that wasn't to be "messed with." After he gave his life to the Lord, the other prisoners began to taunt and and yell obscenities at him to see if he would try to fight them, as he did in years past.

The inmate asked the Lord for strength, and turned into the nearest room and shut the door. He fell to his knees, lifted his hands and spoke aloud to God.

"God, glorify yourself through me today. Show me how you can get glory through my life. That's all I ask."

Instead of responding with his fists, he calmly walked out of the room and went down the hall to the chapel to take part in the Bible study. The other prisoners could see that the Lord had indeed changed this man who had been angry and violent not so long ago. They too began attending the program, and not long after, committed their lives to Jesus Christ.

You would think that this prisoner had limited opportunity for God to use him because of life decisions that had placed him behind bars. Yet, he surrendered what he had control over. Himself. He was determined to be a vessel that would shine forth God's glory in that prison so that other men might see the power of their Creator.

How much greater is our opportunity to show forth His glory in a world where we aren't confined by prison bars or concrete walls and barbed wire? How much greater is our responsibility?

In my drive to work... how can I bring glory to God at this moment?"
As I walk through the grocery store...how can I bring glory to God at this moment?"
While I sit in class... how can I bring glory to God at this moment?"
When I help my pastor... how can I bring glory to God at this moment?"
When I'm with my family... how can I bring glory to God at this moment?"
As I prepare to give...how can I bring glory to God at this moment?"
Before I speak, or write, or act... how can I bring glory to God at this moment?"

In whatever God has called you to do today, I encourage you to first ask Him, "How can I go about doing this in a way that will bring You more glory?"
Let's put our own agendas aside, and dedicate every moment of our lives to increasing His kingdom! Oh, the blessings we will know tomorrow if put His glory first today!
